september 12 highlights cleveland artists
this upcoming friday has several art shows that features some of my favorite cleveland [and former cleveland] artists. the below shows are the galleries that i hope to visit friday night, follow the links for a more detailed review of the event.
labor + industry @ asterisk gallery
i was asked a few weeks ago to represent my industrial photos to the large collaboration of area artists invited to show at this event.
my contribution to the show has four 20x14" prints on photo archival paper of the former steelyard now known as 'steelyard commons' and represents what i believe is the current paradigm of cleveland industry.
coup on waterloo @ vision gallery
vision gallery sits where the 'true' art gallery formerly stood before a thief broke in and stole 33 pieces of art.
'coup on waterloo' includes amy casey my favorite artist as well as best friend. keith marlowe & jake kelley are a couple other of my favorites [photography/illustrations] local artists.
i included the photo above that is a screen capture of the cleveland.com article by steve litt though has dan tranberg's photo representing 'art matters', apparently i'm not the only one that misses tranberg's superior writing.
paul sydorenko: plant, animal, mineral @ the wooltex gallery
paul sydorenko, enough said.
'the back of tim's head' and other drawing and paintings from "the tremont pretentious artists association" @ brandt gallery
the TPAA has been drawing models every friday night at the literary cafe under tim herron's guidance for some time now. this show hopes to present & document these sessions.
